New Media Content Internship

Vertical Media is seeking a summer intern to focus on writing, editing, outreach, and photography in one of our locations. The goal of this internship is to improve our website content, expand our use of photos and video, and to encourage local community members to become involved in our website through blog and event submissions. Location is flexible but intern must spend the summer in one of the following locations: Jackson, WY; Big Sky, MT; West Yellowstone, MT; Cody, MT; Red Lodge, MT; Bozeman, MT; Black Hills, SD; Aspen, CO; Vail, CO; Steamboat, CO; Summit County, CO.
Requirements:

:: Currently enrolled or recent graduate of undergraduate program.

:: Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills.

:: Computer skills including online research and word processing.

:: Internet, phone and camera access.

:: Self-reliant work ethic; most of the work is project- oriented that you`ll do independently.

:: Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, and Business coursework or experience is standard but not an absolute requirement.

Below you can find an overview of projects where we could use your help. There are a number of different skill ranges covered and the experience you will gain is invaluable. College credit is given for all projects as long as the program meets your University's requirements. If you do not see an option below that fits your exact needs, please feel free to contact us at the email address listed below to explore other opportunities. • INTERNSHIP: Content Management / Professional Writing
  This position would be ideal for a person in the professional, creative and new media writing. This will include the editing of existing content on our pages as well as new articles on activities and attractions throughout the Rocky Mountains.

• INTERNSHIP: Web Development / Programming / Application Building
  Webcam Widget - We have thousands of people who love our webcam feeds. We are looking to write a Firefox or Google Widget that displays our webcams in the sidebar, browser or operating system of the user who chooses to install the application.
  Desktop Media Creation - Create screensavers, desktop backgrounds, email postcards and more for download.
  Internal Systems Development and Content Management System Use - We always have tweaks that we are making to our systems and needs that arise in using the system.

• INTERNSHIP: Map Illustrations
  Have maps created in-house for use in pubs. Illustrations, artwork, etc.

• INTERNSHIP: Marketing and Sales
  Assist in the creation of sales materials, new lead development, contract creation and advertising placements. Market research and development.

• INTERNSHIP: Video Production
  Produce clips for our more popular pages that highlight the region and activity. This will provide the intern with an opportunity to film, edit and publish online video feeds covering activities, characters and locations throughout the Rockies.

Content Writers

Vertical Media is looking for freelance writers who are familiar with our publication locations to write on a variety of topics. Topics, style and purpose vary but most assignments are based on travel, attractions and activities for each location. Content is assigned based on availability and we do not guarantee consistent work. Pay depends on experience.

Candidates should:

:: Have previous writing or editing experience.

:: Be proficient in Word or another type of word processing software.

:: Have access to a computer and internet with either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome browsers.

:: Be comfortable with researching topics on the internet, in the library, or through phone calls.

:: Be familiar with or live in one of our publication locations.

:: Most importantly, enjoy writing!
